As our client portfolio grows, we are looking for a Technical Program Lead, Product Development to own multidisciplinary product-development programs and help scale how we execute complex startup projects.
This is not a traditional project-management role. The Technical Program Lead will work directly with founders and engineering teams to translate ambitious, often loosely defined product concepts into executable technical programs and drive those programs toward working prototypes and measurable milestones.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
•Lead product-development programs from technical scoping through prototype delivery
•Work directly with founders to translate product goals into engineering requirements, development plans, and milestones
•Coordinate multidisciplinary work across hardware, electronics, embedded systems, software, biotech, microfluidics, manufacturing, and other technical domains as required
•Identify technical risks early and drive practical decisions around architecture, scope, cost, and schedule
•Manage internal engineers, specialists, vendors, and external development resources
•Maintain clear communication with clients regarding progress, tradeoffs, risks, and next steps
•Help develop the systems, processes, and technical standards Square One Foundry uses as its project portfolio grows
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
•Strong technical background in engineering, product development, or applied R&D
•Experience taking products or prototypes from loosely defined concepts to functioning systems
•Ability to work across disciplines and quickly understand unfamiliar technical problems
•Strong technical judgment and comfort making decisions with incomplete information
•Experience leading engineers, vendors, or multidisciplinary technical teams
•Ability to communicate effectively with both highly technical contributors and nontechnical founders
•A practical, execution-oriented approach to engineering
Experience in startups, product-development firms, engineering consultancies, venture studios, advanced R&D organizations, or similarly fast-moving environments is especially relevant.
